These Solhav Mittens
were a kit purchased last fall for the Warm Hands knit along. I'm finally starting! I have always had a hard time with knitting in Fair Isle. I tend to twist the stitches. Hopefully this time I will remember the correct way to do this.
I left one item off my resolution list this year. I wasn't sure I would follow through with the project, but I am surprising myself. Enter another podcast to the marketplace. Yep, it is about knitting. But also about cooking--both at home and in a restaurant, gardening, herbs, contests, books, spinning, dyeing and a bit of music. It is called A CREATIVE FRENZY! Sounds like one doesn't it? There will be a link to the podcast and it's blog just as soon as I'm done fiddling. If you listen let me know--feed back too please.
In other beginnings I am making a scarf (well right now I am ripping a scarf). It is the middle pattern on this sweater
. This is a sample for a future sweater from the Gladys Thompson book. I am already encountering stitch patterns I am unfamiliar with (hence the ripping out), but it is a good challenge.
The first 18 years that I knit I really tried to choose projects that would teach me some new skill. It has only been the last couple of years that I have become so yarn obsessed. The market has grown quickly and the internet brings everything to your ordering fingertips. I love it! But it is time to start challenging myself again.
January is a good month for this!!
Here is a trivia bit for today (as heard on NPR this afternoon)--Today is the most depressing day of the year "Blue Monday". Who knew and I have been having a lovely day. The reason (it is supposed) is that this is the last Monday of the month and people are starting to realize they aren't going to keep their resolutions.
Not I I say!!!

Wow your colorwork looks awesome so far! You are off to a good start. I'll be on the lookout for the podcast:)
