hmmmm

I just couldn't think of a title.  I have been busy with that thing called life lately.
Knitting?  yes--I finished my socks from the Woolgirl's September sock club P1020086I loved knitting this pattern and yarn by Miss Babs!  You will notice no links--my mouse isn't working and I have never figured out the trick to right click without a mouse (I really do want to be more nerdy!).
I am still behind on socks and a multitude of other projects, but I am catching up on organizing the house and stash and visiting with some old friends and spending some quality time with family.
I don't have a whole lot else to say at the moment but I will leave you with some yummy yarn from A Swell Yarn Shop (home of Duet yarn) P1020066 P1020068This is the October sock club installment (skinny duet)  and their new "Middy" yarn in spearmint.  I've always loved the coordinating toe/heel yarn from this company.
Let's have one final photo of what I've been up to lately.  My dad has been here quite a bit (getting ready to move in).  Here is a photo from my sis's birthday dinner last week P1020084the dad, sis, me and the nieces enjoying a terrific dinner (with a couple of guys too) at Nostrana.

More on the whole life thing later;)

So Sorry!!

This is for all those that I accidentally spammed last night!  I got an invite to a great new site--Shelfari
I wanted to share this with some friends and family and managed to send invites to my whole address book!  If you are enjoying it I'm so glad.  If you wonder why someone you emailed once is sending this--mia culpa  So didn't mean to do this!  Glad my landlord's secretary and my lawyer did like it.  Shaking my head at myself.

Feeling so much better!  Five days of misery.  Lots of knitting to talk about later.  Movie filming at Gino's!!  And more after work...

No title today

Well, that sounds better than I've had the flu again!  I can't believe I'm on the second flu and it is only October.  Maybe it is all out of my system now.  Please!!  Being that I still don't feel 100% I haven't gotten to visit that sweet little baby yet!  It's killing me....

I have been working on some socks as it is Socktoberfest.  And that is about it.  A lot of time in bed.  I've been reading a very good book while there though--A History of Love.  Very well written.

Oh and if you need to lose some weight I highly recommend this flu.  It's great!!

The cool, interesting and fun

Okay, lots happening and going on.  Well not really but some fun stuff inbetween work, desparately trying to get that blankie finished and (wonder of all wonders) exercising every day for the last week!

I did finish the baby blanket! P1020064 I really wanted little Dylan to be all cuddled up on his way home from the hospital.  And now he can be:)
Pattern:  Entrelac Shawl by Debbie Bliss from Baby Cashmerino
Yarn:  Debbie Bliss cashmerino in blue
Changes:  I used size #4 needle instead on size #3 which looked great.  I also chose not to add the edging.  I didn't have any curling at the edges so I decided to leave it.

Okay here is something fun!  well to me anyway...
There is a new movie out-- Feast of Love, staring Morgan Freeman, Greg Kinnear and my bedroom.  Yes it's true they filmed this movie in the home I grew up in.  My oldest friend called to say my bedroom is in one of the scenes.  I can't wait to see it, but I know it will be a little melancholy since the home isn't in our family anymore.  It was a great house!  Oh and by the way, PSU does not look as romantic as all that.  Reed College is playing the roll of Portland State U.
Okay, now for the cool!  I have been waiting for this P1020065 for the last three years!  This is a fabulous tarot deck.  But not just any tarot deck, but a hand printed tarot deck and accompanying book.  And not just that--a knitting tarot deck!  Pretty cool when different parts of my life intersect.  I don't know these ladies personally, but I have been following their blog for 3 years(they have been working on it for 4 years).  I was so proud of them when I opened this!  This is #13 of 170.  They are even including one of the press pieces with the first customers that have been following along.

And just a bit of the interesting--cinnamon lowers blood sugar levels.  I realize that isn't in the fun and cool department, but it is interesting.  So a cup of coffee with a dash of cinnamon in the morning is a great way to start the day!  Two other food items you might want to add in to your new healthy diet (oh yea, that is my new healthy diet)  turmeric and Jerusalem artichoke.

So now, on to celebrate Socktoberfest!  Is there anyone not knitting socks this month?  I owe a friend a pair of ribbed STR (Silkie in Metamophic) socks for raising the most money during our Race for the Cure fundraiser.

Still here!

I've been working and knitting a lot.  So I really don't have a lot to post about.
The knitting is a baby blanket that really must get finished!  Especially since the little man was born today!  Welcome Dillon Marley to the world:)  Pictures will be coming after a bit.  I realized I gifted, but did not photograph.  Plus I have a few other baby knits I have to make.  I was waiting to make anything too girly or boyish.  Now I've got a plan.
And at work--well obviously mom and dad are off on maternity leave, but we are making due.  Today was a big luncheon for the Portland Farmer's Market.  It was wonderful!  90 people, lots of wonderful products donated for us to cook with and a great fundraiser for an organization I avidly support.
Now back to that baby blanket!

My how life changes when we're not paying attention

I can't believe how many things changed in my life over the weekend!  My father came to visit and will now be moving in with us in a couple of months.  He will be "renting" up here above the restaurant so he feels independence and we can pay the bills:)
A possible new job opportunity was mentioned that may or may not happen in the future.  But running ideas back and forth is so much fun!
Housing opportunities are in the air for us.  I can't say a whole lot more of that yet.  Only that it is very exciting and involves a perfect studio area for me!  Imagine natural dyed yarns where the dye herbs are growing right outside the window:)
My what a change 3 days can make.

I forgot that my sis had given me a gift last Christmas of a personalized natural perfume.  I had an appointment with our friend Jewlie this morning.  She had groupings of oils for me to smell and lots of questions so we could create the perfect (for me) perfume.  I loved the rose oils, spices (especially pink peppercorns), woods and citrus.  We will see which ones end up in the final product.  She makes three samples which I will wear on an every other day basis for a week and then decide (or we'll start over).  I loved the experience.  I blend food smells all day, but scent for the sake of scent is a whole new deal.  I couldn't imagine the mixing to end with a complex final product.  She also collects wonderful old containers to put the perfumes in.  I decided to go with a solid perfume even though she did have some beautiful glass bottles for dabbing beind the ear.

And let us not forget that today is the first of Socktober!!  Head on over to Lolly's to find out what's going on this month in celebration of the sock.  I have a skein of Scout's socktober yarn that I really would love to use this month.  But I am being very monogamous right now with a beautiful baby blanket.  I am determined that I will deliver this to the hospital!

I'm talking here too
