I made someone's day!

I have enjoyed finding new blogs through the Makemyday "You Make My Day" award that has been floating around.  But I have to say, I really didn't think I would be inspirational to anyone.
RosieKate says that I've made her day!  What a wonderful compliment:)  She enjoys seeing what I've been knitting.  Well I gotta tell ya she has beautiful knit ideas herself!!
Now to nominate 10 blogs that I read daily and find inspirational.
Some of these have been nominated by others, but they still inspire me so I have to nominate as well:

Marisol:  I love her knitting energy, color sense and community works!  I really hope to meet her in person one of these days:)

Tammy:  A local knitter that I have met in person.  I love what to read about what she and her daughter are knitting and spinning these days.  It's inspirational to see how close they are!

Stephanie:  The Yarn Harlot is inspirational on so many levels!  I have learned techniques from her, laughed as I've learned from her mistakes and found so many projects I've wanted to take on.

Jenn:  I'm so happy to have found Woolgirl!  She has been very dangerous on the shopping front, but I love the yarns I've found through her.  I have been inspired by those yarns to create fabulous footwear:)  I also love how she structures her blog.  I hope to meet her in person before she disappears from my city;)

Jane:  I love reading this blog!  Jane has beautiful ideas for knitting, goes on great trips and visits fabulous festivals.  I enjoy vicariously living in the south through Quiddity!

--Deb:  My vicarious life on the east coast resides here.  The amount of sweaters she knits is an inspiration in itself!  The beauty and techniques used are wonderful to read about.  Deb's writings about spinning were instrumental in getting me back to my wheel.

Lynne:  Her creation of the Special Swap has been a great inspiration to me.  I love getting to know ladies through this swap.  Lynne really cares about people and her blog shows it:)

Nathania:  I've been reading her blog for a few years now.  I feel like I know her as I've watched all the wonderful changes that have happened in her life in recent years.  She is a very special lady!  We were both part of a scarf swap a few years ago.  I treasure the scarf she knit for me.  If I think of just one way she inspires it would have to be her love of her family:)

Debby:  This is a daily read that is very inspriational.  Her support of the colitis foundation is wonderful!  And her generosity to other causes (both financially and just leading us all to them) gets me active:)

Margene:  Last and definitely not least!  Her photos, her spinning, her 365 days of blogging, her knitting (of course) and her writing inspire me to keep on keeping on:)

Some of these ladies I'm going to tell that I tagged them, but a few I am just going to surprise when they read this next;)

Fun and the creative

Saturday nights at Nostrana always have a theme.  We like to have fun to make it through a busy weekend.  This week was Doctors.  I chose to be the psychiatrist.  But we had a list of every medical doctor that each employee chose to be for the evening.  It is silly fun.
However, this brought on all the other "funny" doctors out there.  Here is how far we got in our list through the night:

Dr. Bronner
Dr. Pepper
Dr. Brown (soda)
Dr. Ruth
Dr. Laura
Dr. Phil
Dr. Dre
Dr. J
Dr. Doolittle
Dr. Zhivago
Dr. Strangelove

I am forgetting a few here.  leave me some comments of more doctors.  It was pretty funny that every so often during the night one of the cooks would call out a random dr. name he had just thought of.  Also, when the servers weren't quickly picking up food you would hear "is there a doctor in the house".  Pretty silly I know but we loved it!

I went for the exercise instead of the knitting today.  DH really wanted to go for a bike ride, but my hand has been bothering me lately (hobby and work using the same motor skills is a problem sometimes).  I talked him into a walk so we headed accross the river and down to our favorite breakfast place--Cafe Du Berry.  Best french toast in Portland.  As nice as this was I had planned to meet Tammy and her daughter over at Mabel's today.  It is hard to fit everything in.

This evening I am taking a Crewel class at Twisted.  I'm excited to get some embroidery under my belt.  And completely be chance I ran across this site today--Renaissance Dying.  Beautiful colors of crewel wool as well as knitting yarn and embroidery thread.  All dyed using natural plants.  I've dyed and gone to heaven (get it--gotta have my daily bad joke).

One week until the Guts and Glory 5K!!  Check out the prize page and let's try to get two more drawings before next Sunday:)

A stolen meme

This was over at Jane's Place.  I like the idea of checking back in a year to see which I may have done or not done...and will I still never do?

"here's another meme.  I thought it would be fun to do this one, and then look back in a year or so and see if I've actually accomplished any of the things I've said I'll try, or done any that I've said I won't."

I'm actually surprised how many of these I've already done.  Some it was just so long ago I've forgotten.

A little late on this

Tagged by Jane...last week (sorry Jane) THE RULES: Each player of this game starts with the ‘6 weird things about you.’ People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 6 weird things as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave a comment that says ‘you are tagged’ in their comments and tell them to read your blog.”

1. I am the worst slob at home except for my bed.  I always make my bed as I get up in the morning.  I am so happy to get into a well made bed at the end of the day.
2. I am (probably not surprising) a total sleepoholic.  A good 10 hours...I could sleep for 12 no problem!
3. I am a big pack rat.  Every time I clean things out I fill the place right back up again.  This has definitely carried over to the yarn area over the last couple years.  I blame that all on the blogosphere.  I don't want a project to disapear when I might want to knit it someday.  yikes!  listen to me.
4. I hide jelly bellies in the car.
5. When I really get laughing I start sounding like Horshack from Welcome back Kotter.  Remember him?  I only started doing that after seeing that show when I was little.  But the laugh just never went away.
6. I love owning bright accessories (like knit socks) but rarely wear bright clothing.  I am trying to break out of that.  I got into an orange kick last year.  However, I am realizing I have worn either black or brown for a month now.

I'm not sure if there is anyone else left to tag!  So if you grab this let me know so I can come read yours:)

Interesting

considering I have never been to Minnesota before.

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: North Central

"North Central" is what professional linguists call the Minnesota accent.  If you saw "Fargo" you probably didn't think the characters sounded very out of the ordinary.  Outsiders probably mistake you for a Canadian a lot.

A little meme

courtesy of --Deb
5 quotations that might describe me (at the moment at least)

Our main business is not to see what lies dimly at a distance but to do what lies clearly at hand.     Thomas Carlyle (1795 - 1881)

A marriage is always made up of two people who are prepared to swear that only the other one snores. Terry Pratchett, The Fifth Elephant

True happiness... arises, in the first place, from the enjoyment of one's self.
Joseph Addison (1672 - 1719)

I generally avoid temptation unless I can't resist it.
Mae West (1892 - 1980)

Stay centered by accepting whatever you are doing. This is the ultimate.
Chuang-tzu (369 BC - 286 BC)

I may have to revisit this next year to see what describes me most.

Italia! Italia! Italia!

Yes, I will admit that France played the better game...well up until Zadane's little head butt action.  But we all saw who was up on that podeum!  Wooo Hooo  We decided to forego the craziness of the Italian cafe and bar action.  We sat at home with our boy (and the second footieImg_0009_9 ) to cheer together.

A little Saturday sky action on a Sunday afternoon. Img_0007_15 I wasn't able to get outside with a camera any earlier.  It was a lovely night.  I wish this photo showed the moon better.  Not quite full, but certainly acting like it (if you know what I mean).

A happy little foot

This little footie isn't quite done Img_0005_14 but it was so excited about that win by Italia it needed a bit of a racing stripe.  The fact that the game was somewhat uneventful for the first (well entire) part of the game gave me time to learn the different short row heel/toe technique that Alison uses in her footie pattern.  It was confusing until I worked the whole heel.  Now I love it!  I will still use the short row wrap and turn technique I always have for longer socks, but this is perfect for an anklet.  Really seemless.  I'm looking forward to seeing it on the toe as well.
Yesterday ended up being quite a day back in history for us.  We copped out on the same party as last year.  Ate Mexican down the street (at least at a different place this year) and passed the same neighbors (even had the same conversation) as we went and stood on the same bridge to watch the fireworks.  From this bridge we were able to see 4 different big firework shows and several nice ones that people had snuck in from across the Washington border.  It was great.  I think I even had the same allergy attack on the way home as last year.  I'd be very happy to continue this day into next year as well.  A very restful and calm Fourth!
It was so clear last night, but today it's quite gray.  I'm expecting a busy lunch and dinner.  I think I'll be quite happy to have rested up.
Today is a birthday day for this sweet ole guy! Img_0029_4 Happy Birthday Dad!!  This is the first one in a while we won't be playing together.  He is saving up any travel time for his present to himself...a month trip to the Amazon in August.  This has been a life long dream of his.  I'm so excited he's doing it!!

I'm talking here too
